WRONG TURN 2 DEAD END

WRONG TURN 2 DEAD END 2007

It never amazes me to see just how little substance and just how thin plots can be in movies anymore. Wrong Turn 2: Dead End is just another in a long line of maximum gore and minimal quality that seems to have plagued the horror movie genre. If you have an affinity for buckets of blood, guts and gore; but very little else, then this movie will be right up your alley.

Oddly enough, the best acting to be found in this film is not from a trained actor, but a singer: Henry Rollins. Henry is the only person in this movie that brought a true believability to his role, and played it extremely well. Unfortunately his character was short-lived, meeting a demise very early into the film.

If you like Henry Rollins, then you will like this film and his performance. If you like a quality movie with an equally crafted script, you may want to pass on this one.

Erica Leerhsen as Nina Papas
Henry Rollins as Dale Murphy
Texas Battle as Jake

WRONG TURN 2003

WRONG TURN 2003

This movie works on many levels. Good actors, a solid storyline that doesn't drag, great make-up and visual affects, and fast paced directing make this movie a must see for the serious horror fan. Wrong Turn is a great throwback to the classic horror movies of the 70's and 80's, with the an excellent production budget which a lot of the older classics simply could not afford to have.

Wrong Turn did not disappoint this reviewer, and I really think it's too easy to compare this movie to "Deliverance", as other reviewers have. Regardless, I would rather watch these guys chase Eliza Dushku through the woods and up the trees any day than to watch Ned Beatty squeal like a pig! :-) Wrong turn is a truly scary and very creepy horror film. I get the "willies" every time I watch it! You really want these characters to make it out alive. Dushku is fantastic in her role as the strong female survivor. She plays it with everything she's got and it shows! The scene in which she is taken back to the cabin and tied to the bed.....well, it's a great piece of acting just as good as any of our beloved scream queens from years past.

The rest of the cast also delivers consistently throughout the film. All in all this is a great film and a class apart from what has been released to us horror fans in the last few years. I enjoyed it tremendously, and would recommend this movie to anyone who is a horror film fan!!

Cast:
Desmond Harrington as Chris Flynn
Eliza Dushku as Jessie Burlingame
Emmanuelle Chriqui as Carly
Jeremy Sisto as Scott
Kevin Zegers as Evan
Lindy Booth as Francine
Julian Richings as Three Finger
Garry Robbins as Saw-Tooth
Ted Clark as One-Eye

ZOMBIE 1979

ZOMBIE

Not many people know about this gem by Lucio Fulci. It's known by many titles: Zombie, Zombie 2, Zombie Flesh Eaters, and so on. The story is simple; a boat arrives in New York harbor with no one on-board except for an extremely obese zombie. The boat is own by a scientist doing research on the faraway island of Matool but he is not on the boat. So his daughter and a reporter head out to Matool to find out what happened to him. Well, little do they know that the island is cursed and inhabited by a large number of zombies. After arriving on the island with another couple that gave them a boat ride the action really starts to heat up until the fiery finale.

The style of this movie is really what makes it and that is in turn enhanced by Fabio Frizzi's haunting score. Most of the zombies in this movie look as if they've been dead and rotting for a long time, the way they should look and not with some blue makeup that occurs in many other zombie flicks. There are scenes in this movie that have to be seen to be believed like the shark vs. zombie underwater battle and when Dr. Menard's wife gets turned into a smorgasbord for the undead.

Check it out zombie lovers and you won't be disappointed!
